Blogging Through the Gospels

Scripture ~ Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Observation ~ "thank" in the Greek means to extol, to give praise for.  This wasn't just, "Thanks", this was praise for something good.  The "intelligent" used here, in the Greek is, "as understanding works in keeping with one's own perspective . . . But even here it doesn't reflect the prudence (intelligence) that comes directly from the Holy Spirit."

So - one can be as a babe, and be blessed with prudence (intelligence) by the Holy Spirit to discern what He wills us to discern.

Application ~ He does/will give us exactly the discernment we need to understand something, exactly when we need to understand it.  Even when we 'feel' like such a babe in the faith, He is revealing exactly what we are to know at that moment in our life.

Prayer ~ Father, forgive my discontent over not understanding more.  Thank you for revealing to me, always, exactly what I should understand, and for never giving me more than I can manage.
