Blogging Through the Gospels

Giving birth this morning (so to speak), so we're going to keep this simple and cut to the chase!

Matthew 8

Scripture ~ Matthew 8:24-26 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with waves: but he was asleep.  And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.  And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?  Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.  (Emphasis mine.)

Observation ~ They went from "covered with waves" to "a great calm."  Not just "the storm settled a bit", or "they were able to hang until they reached safety."  A GREAT CALM.  Complete sufficiency!

Application ~  TRUST that He is capable of the GREAT CALM.  Gads, He IS the great calm!

Prayer ~  Father, once again you've taken us me from covered with waves to a great calm.  Thank you for your faithfulness.  Please give us the faith to know and trust that you will always do so.

  1. I have to keep Heb. 11:6 constantly in mind, that without faith it is impossible to please Him. Not difficult, not unlikely, impossible. Helps me keep my daily focus.
